The Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston is a top category automobile race in American Championship Car Racing in Houston , Texas , United States .

Under the name Texaco Grand Prix of Houston, the event took place for the first time in 1998 as part of the CART series on the Houston Street Circuit . Until 2001, the Grand Prix stayed on the track that was near the George R. Brown Convention Center. In 2006 the Grand Prix of Houston returned to the Champ Car series. This time the JAGFlo Speedway in Reliant Park was chosen as the venue. After the end of the Champ Car series at the end of the 2007 season, the Grand Prix of Houston was discontinued again.

In 2013 the race returned to the IndyCar Series under the name Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston . The event stayed in Reliant Park, the track was renamed MD Anderson Cancer Center Speedway and slightly modified.
