The place is located about 18 kilometers southwest of Linz and 9 kilometers east of Wels in the Traun-Enns-Riedelland , not far from the Traun at the height of Marchtrenk . The Allhaminger Forest is located directly to the east of the Riedel .

The small Rotte Grassing is about halfway between Weißkirchen and Eggendorf, about 1½ kilometers away from both municipalities. It lies at around 360  m above sea level. A. height at Stinnbach which at Sammer village km northeast about 10 in the Weyerbach opens and shortly thereafter at Haid of Traun flows. It belongs to Eggendorf as a separate village and, together with the Schöllhammer homestead, comprises only 6 buildings with around a dozen residents. The addresses are Obergrassing .

Then to the north, the Weißkirchen village of Graßing stretches down the stream for 3½ kilometers. With almost 50 buildings and around 125 residents, this forms the majority of the local area. These include - along the valley - the hamlet of Oberndorf , the village of Haisching , the Rotte Obergraßing , and the hamlets of Mittergraßing and Untergraßing . Above the Riedel is still the homestead Rath , This and the rest of the scattered sites is as Grassing-Scattered houses summarized. The village also corresponds to the cadastral community of Grassing with about 3765  hectares , which extends northwest to the border of Weißkirchen.

To the southeast, behind the Allhaminger Forest, the West Autobahn  (A1) passes . The L534 Marchtrenker Straße ( B1 near Marchtrenk - Weißkirchen - Neuhofen an der Krems ) leads through the village of  Weißkirchen to the new Allhaming junction of the A1. In the south, in the Eggendorf municipality, the L1236  Brunnerner Straße leads from Weißkirchen to Eggendorf- Hueb . Otherwise the places are only accessible by a local road and goods roads.

history

The earliest written evidence of the name was in 1299 as "Mitter-, Nider-, Obergraezzingen". The name means settlement in the coniferous bushes ( old high German grazzahi ).

The tax community Grassing belonged to the parish of Weißkirchen in the Dietach district , after the establishment of the local communities in 1848/49 to the local community of Weißkirchen. From 1868 it belonged to the new district Wels-Land . As of July 1, 1894, the southernmost locations were assigned to the municipality of Eggendorf.
