The hornbeam head near Bodenrod in the Hessian Wetteraukreis is 492.3  m above sea level. NHN high northeast foothills of the Gickel ( 505.1  m ) in the Taunus .

The wooded hornbeam head is located in the northeast of the Eastern Hintertaunus in the Taunus Nature Park . Located in the Butzbach forest , its summit rises 1.4 km northeast of the Butzbach district of Bodenrod (to Butzbach in the Wetteraukreis ), 2.4 km southwest of Espa (to Langgöns ; district of Gießen ) and 1.8 km (depending on the beeline ) southeast of Weiperfelden ( Waldsolms ; Lahn-Dill district ).

The neighboring elevations of the Hainbuchenkopf as the north-east foothills of the Gickel ( 505.1  m ) include the 900 m south-south-west located Hesselberg (approx.  518  m ), the Hinterste Kopf ( 491.1 m ), which can be reached via a gap  in the north-northeast , the 2 km east lying Brüler Berg ( 424.2  m ), the 3.5 km east-northeast location mountain ( 485.7  m ) and 2.4 km (each distance) west-northwest lying Hardenberg ( 439.4  m ).

Watershed and rivers

The hornbeam head lies on the watershed between the Lahn and Main , two tributaries of the Rhine . The upper reaches of the Lahn tributary Solmsbach , which rises in Espa and which is fed in Weiperfelden by a small brook on the north-west flank of the elevation and by the Eichelbach flowing north a little west of the elevation from Bodenrod , runs north-west past the source near the source . Transport links

The state road  3053 runs northwest past the hornbeam head along the Solmsbach between Espa and Weiperfelden , to the west the L 3270 runs between Weiperfelden, Bodenrod and Michelbach and a little further away to the south and southeast the L 3353, which connects Bodenrod with Münster . The European long-distance hiking trail E3 runs over the elevation .
