Hanne Glodny

Johanna Karola Glodny (born July 7, 1924 in Opole ; † March 25, 2015 in Bad Lippspringe ) was a German doctor and person in humanitarian aid and social work.

Live and act

After studying medicine , she obtained a doctorate in medicine and was granted a license to practice medicine . She worked as a resident doctor for about three decades , most recently as an internist with her own medical practice in Paderborn .

After the transition to retirement in 1991, Hanne Glodny took over the Deutsche Lepra- und Tuberkulosehilfe (DAHW) e. V. in Würzburg made contact with the leprosy doctor Ruth Pfau , head of the Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center (MALC) in Karachi , ( Pakistan ). For more than 20 years she flew regularly to Pakistan, where she carried out medical education work, supported the offspring of health workers (leprosy assistants), taught Afghan refugee children , and set up health centers and schools. In addition to fighting leprosy , she was involved in immunization campaigns and the treatment of eye diseases - such as cataracts and cataracts . As early as 2004, she founded a school in Karachi for over 700 children of Afghanistan refugees , who are known as Dr. Hanne Glodny School is known.

On May 23, 2011, Hanne Glodny took part with Joachim Fuchsberger , Sven Kuntze and Susanne Holst on Reinhold Beckmann's show Mobil im Alter. The reporter and camerawoman from Cologne, Petra Hoffmann, accompanied Hanne Glodny in Pakistan in 2011 and wrote the report From Paderborn to Pakistan . When it became known that five women from North Rhine-Westphalia would be awarded the Order of Merit on International Women's Day for their extraordinary commitment , the Minister for Federal Affairs, Europe and the Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia invited Ms. Angelica Schwall-Düren u. a.
