geography

Hausen is 434 meters high on the high terrace level of the Danube , four kilometers northeast of Lauingen . The dwarf forms the southern border of the district .

history

The oldest finds go back to the Middle and Neolithic , Hallstatt and Celtic times. Row grave finds indicate an Alemannic foundation. However, Hausen was probably not an original settlement, but was probably developed as an extension from Wittislingen .

In the High Middle Ages , Hausen was probably the seat of a lower noble family , from which Ulrich and Diepolt von Hausen, named in 1129, 1151/62 and 1173, descended. Around 900 Hausen was first mentioned as Husen in connection with donations to the Fulda Monastery . The property of the monastery came in the 12th century to the Hohenstaufen family , who in the 13th century also had the bailiwick law , which was exercised by the Lauingen town judge. With the Conradin inheritance , property and bailiwick came to the Duchy of Bavaria in 1268. In the late Middle Ages , the city of Lauingen acquired the lower jurisdiction and in 1437 also the high jurisdiction in Hausen. The Hausener farmers had Lauingen citizenship until their own community was formed in 1818 .

The landlords in Hausen were the city and the Lauingen hospital, the Dillingen hospital, the Franciscan and Dominican monasteries in Dillingen, the Maria Medingen monastery and the Cistercian monastery in Kaisheim . In 1505, Hausen and the Höchstädt Regional Court , in whose territory it was located, came to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg and in 1808 to the Kingdom of Bavaria .

The formerly independent municipality of Hausen became a district of the large district town of Dillingen on the Danube as a result of the municipal reform on July 1, 1972 .

Population development

In 1560 there were ten farms, one Hube and 30 Sölden in Hausen . In 1813 the place consisted of 47 and in 1961 of 73 houses.

In the second half of the 17th century a country school in Hausen is mentioned and in 1694 an official schoolmaster. Until 1970/71 there was a primary school in Hausen. The students from Hausen then attended the Angelina Egger School (primary school) and, from 1966/67, the Josef Anton Schneller School (secondary school), both in Dillingen.

St. Peter and Paul in Hausen

Culture

Hausen is the seat of an old parish , for which a separate pastor is proven in 1299. The current parish church of St. Peter and Paul was built in 1883/84 according to a design by Georg Maxon in neo-Gothic style on the site of a previous Baroque building. In the basement of the tower there is a Roman consecration stone with an inscription, which probably comes from Faimingen .

The vicarage at Lucknerstraße 3 is a baroque saddle roof building from 1703, which was renovated in 1987.

The Catholic Chapel of Our Lady at the Steckawäldle was inaugurated in 1990.
