Glenne Aimee Headly (born March 13, 1955 in New London , Connecticut - † June 8, 2017 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American actress .

Life and accomplishments

Headly began her career in the theater and was a member of the Steppenwolf Theater Company , among other things . She has been in film and television since 1981 and has worked in around 70 productions.

She starred in the 1991 movie Deadly Thoughts, alongside Demi Moore and Bruce Willis . She also starred in the award-winning film Mr. Holland's Opus (1995), in which she appeared alongside Richard Dreyfuss . She starred in the comedy Always Trouble with Sergeant Bilko (1996) alongside Steve Martin and Dan Aykroyd , in the comedy It's Always Worse! (2001) alongside Danny DeVito and Martin Lawrence . She was also on the TV series Applause! Applause! ( Encore! Encore!, 1998).

Headly was twice nominated for an Emmy : For the television series The Call of the Eagle ( Lonesome Dove , 1989) and the film Dirty Love (1996). The Chicago Film Critics Association recognized her in 1989 for her role in Two Adorably Depraved Villains in the category of "Most Promising Actress". In 1992 she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress .

Headly was married to John Malkovich from 1982 to 1988 , and in 1993 she married Byron McCulloch. With him she had their only child, a son, in 1997.
