Ernst Hans Alex Herbert Hennies (born July 18, 1900 in Breslau , Province of Silesia , † July 18, 1979 in Altötting ) was a German actor , writer , songwriter and radio play speaker .

Life

Born in Silesia , he had close ties with the city of Cologne for decades . As an actor, he mainly appeared on stages in Cologne. Since the late 1940s he also worked for the NWDR studio in Cologne and its legal successor, the WDR . As a speaker he was heard in a few leading roles, but mostly in supporting roles.

He had his best-known role from 1951 to 1962 under director Eduard Hermann as servant Charlie in nine of the twelve multi-part films about the detective Paul Temple , which came from the British writer Francis Durbridge . Only in the Gregory affair and the Geneva case , where he was represented by Eric Schildkraut , he was not involved. The role of Charlie did not appear in the last production of Paul Temple and the Alex Case . The regular cast of the radio play series also included René Deltgen , Annemarie Cordes and Kurt Lieck . In 1956, Hennies could be heard in several episodes of the ten-part radio play Winnetou after Karl May . Under the direction of Kurt Meister , his partners included Hansjörg Felmy (Winnetou) and Kurt Lieck (Old Shatterhand). When Meister produced another ten-part series based on a Karl May model ( Old Surehand ) two years later , Hennies was there again. Heinz Klingenberg played the title role , Kurt Lieck again spoke Old Shatterhand and Werner Rundshagen played the Indian chief Winnetou.

In addition, Hennies played a key role in various radio productions for the station, such as do you know? Musical memories (1955) and In a hundred years ... Three grotesques based on the ideas of Madeleine de Mont and Hans Dieter Wagner (1962). The four little lights of Mr. Sebastian came from his own pen . An Advent story (1955) and The long way (1958). The works that he arranged for funk include the operettas Die Csárdásfürstin (1957), Die Rose von Stambul (1962), Der Vetter aus Dingsda (1960) and Der Graf von Luxemburg (1963), conducted by Franz Marszalek . The commercial radio plays he edited also included Uncle Tom's Hut based on Harriet Beecher Stowe , directed by Benno Schurr with Kurt Ebbinghaus a . a., published by Ariola-Eurodisc in Munich (1972). Hennies also wrote several radio plays himself, such as Die Sternreiter or Morgenröte and Abendröte . He is also said to have been active as a voice actor from time to time.

As a songwriter, he wrote a total of 97 hits and chanson texts , such as We write romance really big (music by Olaf Bienert ), Jimmy from Kentucky and I love you for which Paul Haletzki wrote the music.

Presumably at the end of the 1960s, he moved to Upper Bavaria , where he and his wife, Ilse Paula Klara Hennies, nee. Winter lived at Bajuwarenstrasse 9 in Winhöring , Altötting district . He died in Altötting on his 79th birthday.
