history

The place was first mentioned in 1398 as "Hohenaib". Johann von Hohenlohe sold this to the Burgraviate of Nuremberg . The place name means at the high meadow . No remains of the former Hohenau Castle on the Schlossbuck have survived.

At the end of the 18th century there were eleven properties in Hohenau. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth mayor's office in Markt Bergel . The village and community rulership was held by the Brandenburg-Ansbach Vogtamt Birkenfels . The principality of Ansbach was the landlord (Vogtamt Birkenfels: 2 courtyards, 2 half-courtyards, 2 houses; Ansbacher Council : 1 courtyard, 2 half-courtyards, 1 Köblergut , 1 Söldengütlein ). In addition to these properties there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, breaker's house ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Hohenau was assigned to the Mitteldachstetten tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Mitteldachstetten, founded in 1811 . On January 1, 1972 Hohenau was incorporated into Oberdachstetten as part of the regional reform .
