history
Möckenau was created as a clearing settlement by the German Order Coming Virnsberg . The place was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. The place name is derived from an identical field name, the defining word of which is the personal name Meko. In the Salbuch der Kommende from 1574, three properties were specified for “Möckenaib” (2 courtyards, 1 estate).
Towards the end of the 18th century there were two properties and a community shepherd's house in Möckenau. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth mayor's office in Markt Bergel . The village and township government had the upper Bailiwick Office Virnsberg held. The Teutonic Order Coming Virnsberg had the two half farms as landlord .
From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .
As part of the municipal edict, Möckenau was assigned to the Mitteldachstetten tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Mitteldachstetten, founded in 1811. On January 1, 1972 Möckenau was incorporated into Oberdachstetten as part of the regional reform .
