IC 1440 is a galaxy of Hubble type E? in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 191 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7246 and NGC 7251 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 25, 1892 .
