IC 1440 is a galaxy of Hubble type E? in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 191 million light years from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years across.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7246 and NGC 7251 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 25, 1892 .
