IC 348 = IC 1985 is a reflection nebula with an embedded open star cluster of type IV2pn in the constellation Perseus. The star cluster has an apparent magnitude of 7.3 mag and a diameter of 10 '. Its distance from the solar system is about 1250 light years .
The object was discovered on December 1, 1866 by Truman Henry Safford .
