IC 345 is a lenticular  dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Eridanus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 56 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 10,000 light-years across . The galaxy is considered a member of the Eridanus Galaxy Cluster . 
The galaxies NGC 1394 , NGC 1402 , NGC 1407 , IC 343 are in the same region of the sky .
The object was discovered by Ormond Stone on October 22, 1887 .
