IC 4187 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Canes Venatici on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 511 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxies IC 4171 , IC 4178 , IC 4188 , IC 4189 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 21, 1903 .
