IC 5342 is an elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E0 in Pegasus at the northern sky . It is an estimated 422 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7720 , NGC 7726 , NGC 7728 , IC 5341 .
The supernova SN 1961N was observed here.
The object was discovered by Herbert Alonzo Howe on November 27, 1899 .
