NGC 7744 = IC 5348 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / SB0 in the constellation Phoenix in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 137 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered by John Herschel on September 5, 1834 .
