NGC 7724 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 90 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 7727 , it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair and is a member of the NGC 7727 group ( LGG 480 ).
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 7723 .
The object was discovered on November 27, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
