NGC 7717 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 158 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered in 1876 by Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel with his 18.7 inch reflector telescope and later included in his New General Catalog by Johan Dreyer .
