NGC 7723 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 87 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years across. Together with four other galaxies, nsie is considered a member of the NGC 7727 group ( LGG 480 ).

The Type Ia supernova SN 1975N was observed here.

The object was discovered by William Herschel on November 27, 1785 .
