I Just Can't Stop Loving You is a pop ballad by Michael Jackson in a duet with Siedah Garrett . It was released in advance from the album Bad on July 20, 1987 as the first single .
The piece reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as in many other countries and received a gold award in the USA. It became the first of five consecutive number one hits from the Bad album . In Germany and Switzerland the song reached number 2, in Austria number 5.
On June 1, 2012, a posthumous re-release was released as a release from the album Bad 25 .
history
Jackson initially wanted to record the piece, which was written by Jackson himself, with singers such as Barbra Streisand and Whitney Houston . Even Aretha Franklin and Agnetha Faltskog ( ABBA ) were considered. But everyone had different obligations. Siedah Garrett, sponsored by Jackson's producer Quincy Jones , came into play after co-writing Man in the Mirror .
In the original the song has a longer spoken intro. This was u. a. omitted from many compilations and other Bad releases. Some new editions of the album contain versions of the title in Spanish ( Todo mi amor eres tu ) and French ( Je ne veux pas la fin de nous ).
