He was substituted in for the defeat against the Moroccan national football team on March 18, 1992 for Mark Dodd in the 71st minute.

In 1993 Ian moved back to the US and played salsa for one season at Los Angeles . Since the team reached fourth place, they qualified for the playoffs, where they defeated the Vancouver 86ers in the semifinals on penalties and lost in the final against Colorado Foxes and were runner-up.

Fire moved to West Ham United for the 1994-1995 season, but was not used since Luděk Mikloško was the first choice. Then West Ham loaned his substitute keeper on February 20, 1995 in the second division to Peterborough United , whereupon he completed the remaining 19 games for The Posh .

In the 1995–1996 season, fire was back on the West Ham squad. In August 1995 he broke his wrist while training for the US national soccer team . After a month the injury was healed and he was loaned back to the second division by West Ham. This time to Luton Town where he was the goalkeeper and played 14 competitive games. Because of his good performance, Luton bought Feuer's contract from West Ham in December 1995 for £ 580,000.

He played 26 games in the season before signing a contract for the Colorado Rapids on February 24, 1999 , to which he moved in the summer of 2000. After Walter Zenga also signed for New England, Ian was loaned to Rushden & Diamonds . Fire was used in the FA Cup and kept his goal clean against Leeds United , the game ending in a 0-0.

When fire arrived in Colorado, he was Marcus Hahnemann's replacement keeper . Hahnemann moved in the following period, during the current season, to Fulham and Feuer was then in goal in the remaining 19 games. After these games, the contract was extended by one year with the Rapids.
