In the catch is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Alfhausen in the joint municipality of Bersenbrück in the district of Osnabrück .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 037 is 6.7  hectares in size. It lies between Alfhausen, Hespe and Ueffeln-Balkum and preserves the remains of a dwarf shrub heather , which used to be characteristic of the area. In the nature reserve, which includes a grassland area in the southeast and is completely surrounded by agricultural land , there are several heather ponds .

The area has been a nature reserve since November 23, 1940. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Osnabrück.
