description

In the center of the area is a boggy, 1 km long depression, which may have emerged from an oxbow river of the Bever . Today this flows past the area at a distance of a good 250 meters. Due to the sandy subsoil, the fen, framed by pine forests, mainly contains plant species that have been adapted to nutrient-poor conditions. These include:

At the end of the 1950s, the first signs of eutrophication were noticeable on the northwestern edge . Here u. a. Common reed ( Phragmites australis ), yellow iris ( Iris pseudacorus ), common loosestrife ( Lysimachia vulgaris ) and water knotweed ( Polygonum amphibium ). In the 2010s, the moor suffered badly from drought. As a result, the pipe grass was able to spread rapidly, which increasingly displaces the rare bog plants. The water shortage should u. a. go back to the straightening of the Bever.
