The Iowa Stars were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Hockey League based in Waterloo , Iowa .
history
The Memphis South Stars from the Central Hockey League were relocated to Waterloo, Iowa, for the 1969/70 season and renamed Iowa Stars. In its only season, the farm team of the Minnesota North Stars from the National Hockey League managed to reach second place after the regular season. In the subsequent playoffs for the Adams Cup , the Iowa Stars first defeated the Tulsa Oilers in the semifinals, before they lost to the Omaha Knights in the best-of-seven series with 1: 4 wins in the final . The franchise was then dissolved again after just one year.
From 2005 to 2008 played a franchise of the same name in the American Hockey League .
