Iris Brosch (born July 1, 1964 in Wolfsburg ) is a German fashion photographer , art photographer , video artist and performance artist .

Act

Brosch works as a fashion photographer, nude photographer, art photographer and performance artist. In addition to her commercial work, she is a video artist and performance artist . In 2002, Brosch presented her video work Pure Heaven in the Differing Views exhibition in Vienna . Brosch's video works showed “mythical female figures in auratic scenes”.

Since 2005, Brosch has presented her video works and performances several times at the Biennale di Venezia . In 2005 she was represented there with the multimedia performance Divinta , which, based on the tableaux vivants, sought to create a “female total work of art” by merging various artistic disciplines such as photography, fashion, music , art and dance . In 2008, photographs by Iris Brosch were presented on billboards and canvases at the Festival International de la Photographie de Mode in Cannes . In 2009 the performance Erotic Enlightenment followed, the installation Galathea and the video Benediction .

In 2010 her photographs were shown in the exhibition All about Colors in Vienna . The online platform artnet spoke of a “retrospective of seven of the greatest contemporary photographers.” Between 2010 and 2015, the videos Prélute , In Paradisum , Die Regen Göttin , Women & Nature near Extinction , L'uomo and Vita were created for the David Vostell composed the music. In June 2011, Brosch presented the performance Requiem for Women at the Biennale di Venezia , a reminder of the women who have been victims of violence, persecution and oppression over the centuries.

Brosch photographed celebrities Claudia Schiffer , Sophie Dahl , Benedict Cumberbatch , Carlos Acosta , Shere Hite , Eva Padberg and Heidi Klum , among others . She photographed the Spanish top model Laura Ponte as Frida Kahlo . In her Kahlo portraits, Brosch imitated the painting style of Frida Kahlo.

Brosch wants to show women and their femininity in their photographs in an expressive and powerful way. For them women are heroines. The soul and intellect of women should be the focus. Brosch wants to show women in their “rigid flawlessness”. The focus of Brosch's photo work is the examination of the old masters and the changeability of women. In her photographs, Brosch quotes the Italian painters of the Renaissance , such as Sandro Botticelli , the paintings of the Pre-Raphaelites , but also modern painting. Her photographic style has been described as follows: " Miuccia Prada meets Leonardo da Vinci ". Broch is represented by the Zurich agency Visualeyes International. She lives in New York and Paris .
