The Irrlichtsweiher nature reserve is located in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate .

The approximately 17.3 hectare area, which was placed under nature protection in 1990 , extends southwest of the local community of Herschbach . The B 413 runs to the northwest, the L 306 state road to the southwest and the L 305 to the east.

The protection purpose is the preservation of the wetland as a location of rare wild plants and plant communities that are threatened in their existence , as a habitat for animal species threatened and for scientific reasons.
