The juniper heather near Westernohe is a nature reserve in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate . The 14 hectare area is located in the northeast of the local community Westernohe, which belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rennerod .
1967 Asked protected heathland is grazed twice a year with sheep and mowed regularly to an encroachment forestall. The plants that are found include arnica , beavers , heather and finger herbs . Borst grass dominates among the grasses , but there are also incidence of bog grass , three-toothed grass and cotton grass . The juniper, which gives it its name , only grows on around half of the designated area of the nature reserve. The area is framed by spruce forests.
