Isabelle Fuhrman
Isabelle Fuhrman (born February 25, 1997 in Washington DC , United States ) is an American actress and voice actress . After a few minor roles, she was best known for her role as Esther in the horror film Orphan in 2009 .
life and career
Isabelle Fuhrman was born in Washington, DC and raised in Atlanta , Georgia . Her Soviet- born mother, Elina Fuhrman, is a journalist , and her father, Nick Fuhrman, served for some time as leader of the Republican Party in Dane County , Wisconsin . She has an older sister, Madeline Fuhrman , who is active as a musician and songwriter .
Fuhrman's career began at the age of seven when a talent scout from Cartoon Network was waiting for her sister. Instead, he discovered her and gave her a role on Cartoon Fridays . Fuhrman had her first major role in 2007 in the film Hounddog . That same year, Fuhrman was selected to star in the film Orphan, alongside Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard . Fuhrman was selected to star in the Warner Bros. collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions and Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment through a nationwide search for young actresses . It was DiCaprio who discovered them through a recording and decided not to shoot Orphan without them. Her portrayal as sinister Esther earned her euphoric reviews from film critics from the US and around the world. Her performance was celebrated as “worthy of an award” and as “one of the most important examples of the portrayal of a child actress in recent years”.
Other roles she had as Gretchen Dennis in the US television series Ghost Whisperer - Voices From Beyond with Jennifer Love Hewitt as Grace O'Neil in the pilot episode television series Justice - Not guilty , and in a series of national commercials, including for Pizza Hut and K-Mart . Her performance as Gretchen Dennis in Ghost Whisperer earned her a Young Artist Award nomination .
In 2010, she said the role of Shelly in the English version of 3D - animated film Sammy's Adventures - The search for the secret passage , and two years later in the sequel Sammy's Adventures 2 . In 2011 she starred as Angie Vandermeer in Who 's Believing Will Be Blessed - Salvation Boulevard alongside Pierce Brosnan . In 2012 she appeared in the science fiction film The Hunger Games - The Hunger Games in the role of the career winner Clove . In May 2012 Fuhrman was cast for David Gordon Green's remake of the Giallo film Suspiria , which could not be realized due to legal problems. 2013 she took over beside Joel Courtney 's role as Michelle Madsen in the film The Between , the shooting took place in 2011, and the role of Rayna in the science fiction film After Earth alongside Jaden Smith . Fuhrman replaced Chloë Grace Moretz as Val in The Wilderness of James in 2012 , as Moretz took part in the filming of Kick-Ass 2 and the filming overlapped.
2014 Fuhrman was for the film adaptation of Stephen King's horror - novel pulse occupied. In the third and fourth seasons of Masters of Sex , she takes on the supporting role of Tessa Johnson .
