The Open d'Italia is a golf tournament of the PGA European Tour . First held in 1925, this event has been an integral part of the tournament calendar since the introduction of the European Tour in 1972.
history
The first winner of the Open d'Italia was the Italian Francesco Pasquali. Then the Frenchman Auguste Boyer dominated, who won the tournament four times (1926, 1928, 1930, 1931). Later the Belgian Flory Van Donck also triumphed four times (1938, 1947, 1953, 1955), both of which are record winners of the tournament to this day. Bernhard Langer was able to win the title twice (1983, 1997).
Prize money
The prize money in 2016 was € 3 million. Since 2017 it has been part of the newly created Rolex series with prize money of US $ 7 million.

The tournament is played on different places. The last event took place in October 2019 at the Olgiata Golf Club in Rome .
