The Jewish cemetery Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke is a Jewish cemetery in Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke in Lower Franconia , a municipality in the Rhön-Grabfeld district in Bavaria .
history
The first Jews in Sulzdorf an der Lederhecke are attested to in 1656. Their share in the population of the place rose to over 30% by the middle of the 19th century. The oldest known tombstone ( Mazewa ) in the cemetery dates back to 1833 . According to a memorial plaque , the four Jews A. Reuter, Bertha Leopold, Clara Mandelbaum and Meier Neumann donated the cemetery wall in 1883 or 1885; they later emigrated to the USA .
The last burial in the cemetery took place in 1905.
Location and characterization
The cemetery is located north of Sulzdorf on the B 279 . On its 10.7 ares large area there are still 92 tombstones today.
