Broadcasting and Publications
The films were shown as 90-minute feature films in Italy from November 1988. The series appeared in this form in 1989 in Germany, initially on six VHS cassettes under the original title Big Man on Taurus Video . The television premiere was two years later on May 8, 1991 on ZDF , which had also co-produced the series. There the six films were divided into twelve 45-minute episodes and they were shown in a different order the night before. For the German version, the original music by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis has been replaced by compositions by Karel Svoboda .
From 2010 the series was also shown in German in its original 90-minute form on Das Vierte . The twelve-part version is still used; most recently on Sky Krimi in 2014 .
On June 24, 2011, the complete series was released for the first time on DVD in two boxes by Koch Media . It contains the six original versions and not the twelve-part ZDF version. In 2014, the series was reissued on DVD in the television jewels series at AL! VE in a box. The extras (interviews, original German and Italian trailers and opening and closing credits) are identical in both publications.
