Jason Douglas Woolley (born July 27, 1969 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 797 games for the Washington Capitals , Florida Panthers , Pittsburgh Penguins , Buffalo Sabers and Detroit Red during his playing career between 1988 and 2007 Wings in the National Hockey League on the position of defender . Woolley celebrated his greatest career success in the jersey of the Canadian national team by winning the silver medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics .

Career

The 1.83 m tall defender began his career on the Michigan State University team in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as 61st in the third round of the Washington Capitals ( drafted ).

Initially, the left-shooter commuted for three years between the NHL franchise of the Capitals and the Washington farm team in the American Hockey League , and for the 1994/95 season Woolley finally moved to the Florida Panthers , where he quickly became a permanent member of the staff. Over the Pittsburgh Penguins of the Canadians came in 1997 with the Buffalo Sabers , for which he was more than five years on the ice and he during 2002/03 towards Detroit Red Wings left.

During the lockout 2004/05 Woolley played for the Flint Generals in the United Hockey League , after the 2005/06 season he moved from the Red Wings to Malmö , where he ended his career after one season.

International

With the Canadian national ice hockey team , Jason Woolley won the silver medal at the 1992 Olympic ice hockey tournament in Albertville , after the team had lost the final against the CIS team with 1: 3.
