Jeffrey "Jeff" Ross (actually Jeffrey Ross Lifschultz ; born September 13, 1965 in Springfield , New Jersey ) is an American comedian , actor , screenwriter and television producer . Ross , who specializes in the so-called insult comic , became known for his participation in various roasts , which earned him the nickname "The Roastmaster General".

Life

Jeffrey Ross was born and raised in Springfield, New Jersey.

From the mid-1990s, Ross made a name for himself as a comedian at open mic nights in New York City. The first smaller film and television appearances followed. Later he ran various roasts at the New York Friars' Club as a roastmaster . In 1998 he received awards from Backstage Magazine and the Manhattan Association of Cabaret Artists for his comedy appearances.

Through a collaboration with the television station Comedy Central , he was later involved as a roaster in a total of thirteen Comedy Central roasts : Pamela Anderson (2005), William Shatner (2006), Flavor Flav (2007), Bob Saget (2008), Larry the Cable Guy and Joan Rivers (2009), David Hasselhoff (2010), Donald Trump and Charlie Sheen (2011), Roseanne Barr (2012), James Franco (2013), Justin Bieber (2015), Rob Lowe (2016), Bruce Willis (2018) and Alec Baldwin (2019). He was also involved in the scripts and the production of numerous other roasts.

In addition, Ross appears regularly as a comedian in numerous television shows and also takes on minor supporting roles in film and television productions. In 2005 he made the documentary Patriot Act: A Jeffrey Ross Home Movie.
