action
Gary Goodspeed is a prisoner of the Infinity Guard. He was sentenced to five years in prison for impersonating an Infinity Guard pilot and inadvertently destroying 92 star cruisers while trying to impress Captain Quinn Airgon. Gary was sentenced to work in space . He is on a spaceship , the Galaxy One, which is controlled by the artificial intelligence HUE, and receives instructions from this AI when repairs to satellites are due. Also aboard the spaceship are robotic units that can help with repairs, but also defend in combat, and a hovering robot named KVN (pronounced Kevin), who acts as an interstellar insanity avoidance buddy , but ironically, who regularly drives Gary insane.
At the beginning of each episode, Gary is seen floating helplessly in space and HUE tells him at the beginning of the first episode that he only has 10 minutes of oxygen left. The time is reduced by one minute with each starting sequence in a sequence. The action begins on day 1818 of Gary's detention, shortly before the end of the same. After completing a repair on a satellite, Gary encounters an alien life form he calls Mooncake. He takes Mooncake in. But it doesn't take long for bounty hunters to show up and board the Galaxy One. It turns out that these were sent by a certain Lord Commander to ensure Mooncake. However, HUE can get rid of this by light-folding the Galaxy One (a kind of teleportation). After the Galaxy One got into an asteroid field and Gary was rescued by Mooncake, HUE notices that there is still a bounty hunter on board. Gary finds it and arrests it. It is Avocato, a large humanoid cat that is only loyal to the Lord Commander because he is holding his son, Little Cato, captive. Avocato offers to help Gary if he helps free his son.
So the two of them set off to a planet where Little Cato is being held. It turns out to be the trap of the Lord Commander who wants to punish Avocato for failing to catch Mooncake. The Lord Commander tells Gary and Avocato that he needs Mooncake to open the gate to the Final Space, a place where cruel titans live. Gary and Avocato escape. However, Gary loses an arm and has had a robotic arm as a prosthesis ever since. While the two are on the strange planet, a masked humanoid creature enters the Galaxy One, gives KVN a hidden data carrier and disappears again. Back on the Galaxy One, the crew receives a call for help, from Quinn Airgon of all people. When she was rescued, it turns out that she cannot remember Gary and did not receive any of his daily video messages. Gary is devastated but can't long moan when the Galaxy One is attacked by the Infinity Guard. The Infinity Guard wants to stop Quinn's research on an anomaly in space and therefore uses all means against them. Since the Galaxy One's power has been turned off, Gary has to tap a dying star. He falls into a kind of trance and has flashbacks from his childhood. You see Gary's father dying on a space mission and Gary realizes that he, like Quinn, has investigated the anomaly in space. At the last second, the Galaxy One can evade the Infinity One, among other things through the data carrier from KVN.
After a video message from Little Cato, they can locate and save him, but Avocato sacrifices himself for his son and dies. A revenge attack by Little Cato and Gary on the Lord Commander fails, but they are rescued by the masked being who had already given KVN the data carrier. It turns out that this being is Quinn from the future, who came back with a time machine to prevent what happened. She tries to kill Mooncake because in the future he will be responsible for opening the gate to the Final Space and that the universe is haunted by titans. Gary asks Future Quinn to find another way. So she suggests seeking advice from an outcast Titan who already gave Quinn the blueprints for the time machine. When he arrives at the Titan, Gary is chosen to speak to him. The Titan sends him back into the past on his father's ship, shortly before he died, and freezes time there. Only Gary and his father can move and talk while everything around them is frozen. There Gary learns that the anomaly can be closed with an antimatter bomb that is on Earth. Gary also finds out that the Lord Commander is none other than the co-pilot and good friend of Gary's father, who, however, was hit by a wave of power from the Final Space and thus became Lord Commander. Gary's father sacrifices himself to detonate the antimatter bomb on the side of the final space.
The Galaxy One is now on its way to Earth to retrieve the remaining bomb. This succeeds after a few obstacles and you make your way to the anomaly. Once there, the Lord Commander is waiting and taking Mooncake prisoner. In the fight against the Lord Commander every crew member is killed except for Gary and Quinn. The Lord Commander manages to open the gate to the Final Space. Earth is being dragged into Final Space by a Titan before anyone can do anything about it. When Quinn realizes that they only have one chance to detonate the bomb, it sacrifices itself so that Gary survives. The gate closes and Gary is suddenly alone in space. Gary runs out of oxygen and dies after the ten minutes counted down by HUE. In the afterlife he meets his father, who gives him the choice of staying there or going back.

review
The series received mixed reviews with a Metascore of 60, but received largely positive consumer reviews.
The animation, the genre mix, the wacky humor , the original story and characters as well as the voice of David Tennant are particularly praised . Some predictable things in the series, parallels to already known works and the sometimes lack of clever and rather pubescent humor in the series are criticized.
