Ekaterina Oertel
Jekaterina Oertel ( Russian Екатерина Эртель ; * 1966 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian make- up artist and film director .
Life
Yekaterina Oertel was born in Leningrad, in today's Saint Petersburg. She grew up in the GDR and later studied at the Moscow Film and Theater School.
Oertel has worked as a freelance makeup artist in more than 40 film and television projects to date. She first worked on the DEFA fairy tale film Rapunzel or The Magic of Tears (1988) on the mask. After German reunification , she worked in the 1990s, repeatedly in film productions of Detlev Buck ( Wir können auch anders ... , Männerpension , Love your next one! , LiebesLuder ) with. She was also engaged several times for projects by Carlo Rola ( The Soloist - No way back , Sass , The beautiful bride in black ), Matti Geschonneck ( Who loves, is right , Duel in der Nacht ) and Stephan Wagner ( The Solist - In own Thing , you don't kiss nice neighbors ).
From the mid-2000s, Oertel also worked as a make-up artist in international cinema productions, including Roland Emmerich's adventure film 10,000 BC (2008), the Oscar- nominated historical drama A Russian Summer (2009) and Bille August's novel Night Train to Lisbon (2013). Together with Vincenzo Mastrantonio , Katia Sisto and Federico Laurenti , she was nominated for an Emmy in 2013 for her work on the television series The Borgias .
Oertel has also been involved in Ilja Chrschanowski's extensive Dau project since 2008 . She was responsible for the make-up and hairstyle as well as for the editing of the life story of the Soviet Nobel laureate in physics, Lew Landau (1908–1968), which became a large-scale simulation of the totalitarian system under Josef Stalin . When out of the Dau coupled-project film DAU. Natasha Oertel was co-director alongside Chrschanowski and both received an invitation to compete at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival in 2020 . This marks DAU. Natasha made her debut as a film director.
