Jenny Elbe (born April 18, 1990 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German athlete who specialized in the triple jump .

career path

Elbe was a student at the Dresden Sports High School until 2009 and then studied food chemistry at the TU Dresden. At the end of 2017, she completed her studies as a food chemist .

Athletic career

Elbe came to athletics in 1998 at Dresdner SC 1898 . In 2006 she first drew attention to herself when she became German B youth champion (U18) in the triple jump. She also competed in other disciplines, then focused on the triple jump.

In 2008 Elbe reached tenth place at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz .

In 2009 she won bronze at the U20 European Championships in Novi Sad .

In 2010 and 2011 Elbe became German Junior Champion . At the U23 European Championships in 2011 in Ostrava , she came in fourth. In the adult class, she was able to win the German runner-up title both indoors and outdoors .

In 2012 Elbe jumped over 14 meters for the first time and came second again at the German Indoor Championships in Karlsruhe. In the open air she became German champion for the first time in the Bochum district of Wattenscheid . At the European Championships , which were held shortly afterwards in Helsinki , she came in 14th.

In 2013 Elbe became German indoor champion in Dortmund and German champion again in Ulm . In Gothenburg she reached seventh place at the European Indoor Championships .

In 2014 Elbe was able to win the German runner-up title both indoors and outdoors . Internationally, she came in 11th place at the European Championships in Zurich with 13.68 m.

In 2015 she was German runner-up again in Nuremberg and took second place at the Summer Universiade in the South Korean city ​​of Gwangju .

In 2016 Elbe was again German indoor champion . At the DSC youth meeting on May 14, 2016 in Dresden, she jumped a new personal best with 14.28 m, making her the sixth best German triple jumper of all time. At the European Championships in Amsterdam Elbe came seventh with 14.08 m. Since she had reached the qualifying distance in the triple jump of 14.15 m, she was able to take part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There she missed the qualification as thirteenth with 14.02 m in the final.

In 2017, Elbe again won the indoor championship title . At the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , she jumped a personal best in the qualification with 14.27 m and finished 6th in the final. Due to a knee injury, Elbe had to end the open-air season prematurely by order of the doctors and used the time to graduate.

At the end of January 2018, Elbe had to cancel the indoor season due to a bruised heel.

Elbe also had to cancel the 2018 and 2019 summer seasons due to injury. She ended her career at the end of 2019

Elbe was part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) .

Private

Jenny Elbe is the daughter of Jörg Elbe , GDR runner-up in the triple jump, and Birgit Elbe, Spartakiade winner in the heptathlon. She lives in Dresden and works for AOK Plus.
