Mainly Boulerice, who embodied the player type of the Enforcer , was used in the American Hockey League .
Career
Jesse Boulerice began his career as a hockey player with the Detroit Whalers , for whom he played in the Ontario Hockey League from 1995 to 1997 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1996 by the Philadelphia Flyers from the National Hockey League in the fifth round as a total of 133 players. After another year in the OHL with the Plymouth Whalers , he was appointed to the roster of the Flyers' farm team , the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League , for the first time in 1998 .
In the four years that Boulerice was under contract with the Flyers until 2002, he came only in the 2001/02 season to three appearances for them in the National Hockey League. In the rest of the time he played in the East Coast Hockey League for the New Orleans Brass and Trenton Titans , as well as in the AHL for the Phantoms.
On February 13, 2002, the attacker was given to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Greg Koehler . While he was only active for Carolina's AHL farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters , towards the end of the 2001/02 season , he was exclusively in the NHL roster of the Hurricanes for the next four years, during the lockout in the NHL season 2004 / 05 paused and was not active for any other team. On January 30, 2006 Boulerice was given to the St. Louis Blues , for which he completed twelve games in the NHL until the end of the season. On August 2, 2006, however, the winger was signed as a free agent by his ex-team, the Carolina Hurricanes . In the following season he played only twelve games for their farm team, the Albany River Rats from the AHL, and none for Carolina.
On October 3, 2007, the Philadelphia Flyers took Boulerice as a free agent, after they had drafted him in 1996. In the 2007-08 season , the American only played five NHL games, as he was suspended from the league for 25 games after a stick check on October 10, 2007 in the face of Ryan Kesler , a Vancouver Canucks player . Boulerice ended the season with the Flyers' farm team, the Philadelphia Phantoms, with whom he reached the playoffs for the Calder Cup .
Before the 2008/09 season , Boulerice received a contract in the AHL with the Lake Erie Monsters , where he was appointed assistant captain. Although he also received a contract with their cooperation team, the Colorado Avalanche , on November 11, 2008 , he was hired by the Edmonton Oilers shortly afterwards because the salary cap was exceeded . Again after two games for Edmonton, Boulerice was struck by the Oilers from their squad, also because the upper salary limit was exceeded, so that he was transferred back to Colorado on November 21, 2008. He spent the 2009/10 season with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , where he became a regular player. At the end of the season, the Penguins equipped him with another contract. After the 2010/11 season , the American ended his active career.
