Jochen "Joey" Vollmer (born April 6, 1980 in Velbert ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with ECDC Memmingen in the major league since 2016 .

Career

As a hockey player

Vollmer began his career in the 1998/99 season at the age of 17 with Moskitos Essen in the second division , in which he was only used in one game.

After the mosquitoes were promoted to the DEL , Vollmer made a total of 35 DEL games between 1999 and 2000 , before moving to the Erding Jets in the Oberliga Süd for the 2001/02 season, for which he was only in goal seven times.

In the 2002/03 season, Vollmer finally moved to the EHC Munich in the Bayern League, with which he was promoted to the league in the same year . A year later, the renewed promotion was missed very close - they first had to admit defeat against the later league champions, REV Bremerhaven - Vollmer guarded the goal of the EHC Munich 54 times this season. EHC Munich then managed to move up to the second Bundesliga a year later, namely in 2004/05 - and continued with Vollmer in goal.

Joey Vollmer completed a game for the ERC Ingolstadt with a sponsorship license and can therefore adorn himself with the title of German Cup Winner 2005 , and in 2006 he was appointed to the ESBG All-Star Team .

When they were relegated in the 2005/06 season , Vollmer was in the squad as well as in the semi-finals of the EHC Munich 2006/07 season and also in the 2007/08 season Vollmer was often between the posts. After winning the championship of the 2nd Bundesliga and the promotion of EHC Munich to the German Ice Hockey League , Joey Vollmer and Sebastian Elwing formed the club's goalkeeper duo in the 2010/11 season . After the season he signed a contract with the Eispiraten Crimmitschau for the 2011/12 season . Shortly after the announcement of his departure, the EHC decided not to give Vollmer's shirt number 29 to another player within the club. Since then, his jersey has been hanging under the roof of the Olympic Ice Sports Center . For the 2012/13 season he moved to the Bietigheim Steelers within the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey league , where he quickly became a crowd favorite. For the 2014/15 season , Vollmer moved again within the league , this time to SC Riessersee .

For the 2016/17 season he then moved back to ECDC Memmingen in the Bayern League. In the very first year he made the BEL championship with the Indians and promotion to the Oberliga Süd.

As an inline hockey player

Vollmer is active outside the ice hockey season with the Rolling Wanderers Germering in the German Inline Hockey League and was German inline hockey champion from 2005 to 2012 . He is also a goalkeeper for the German national inline hockey team . From 2007 to 2009 he won bronze with her at the inline hockey world championships . At the inline hockey world championship in Ingolstadt in 2012, the first silver medal and the award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament followed.
