from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Georg Taentzel (also: Tänzel, Taenzel, Täntzel ) (* May 16, 1755 , † November 21, 1815 in Hanover ) was a German court - master mason - architect and stone mason .

Life

Johann Georg was the son of the court mason Johann Christoph Taentzel and the father of Ernst Ludwig Taentzel .

As early as 1771, 1776 and 1779 Johann Georg Taentzel was involved in buildings in Wallmodengarten (today Georgengarten ). During this time he received his 1777 championship title and built, to a design together with the architect Joseph Gerloff and the military engineer Johann Heinrich Borchers for Count Johann Ludwig von Wallmoden-Gimborn instead of the previous Görtzschen Palais the Wall Fashion castle . The count wanted to house his extensive collections in the palace.

In 1779/80 Taentzel rebuilt the hall of the Ballhof , received the title of Hofsteinhauer in 1780 and in the same year made a construction survey of the Herrenhausen Palace , which he provided with a simple plaster .

After Taentzel had been involved in the planning and development of Georgstrasse since 1787 - he provided, among other things, designs for model houses - he was allowed to call himself both court mason and council mason at the latest in 1788.

Johann Georg's monumental tomb , like that of his son, can be found in the garden cemetery in Hanover . According to Hinrich Hesse, the stone block bore the grave number 470 and was located near 7 other tombs with the names Täntzel or Taentzel with the numbers 467 to 474, including master mason Ernst Ludwig Taentzel , some of which also have several names on a tombstone.
