Jost Erdmann von Arnim also Just Erdmann von Arnim (* 1714 ; † May 20, 1789 in Minden ) was a Prussian officer, most recently in the rank of colonel .

Life

Jost Erdmann was a member of the von Arnim noble family from Uckermark . His parents were the heir to Fredenwalde II, Hans Adolph von Arnim (1660-1731) and his third wife Eleonore von Thermo adH Warsin.

Career

Arnim was in Fredenwalde on May 27, 1714 baptized . He was born on April 9, 1729 cadet and entered on 28 September of that year as a cadet in the regiment of the King one. In June 1740 he was promoted to ensign in the newly established guard and is said to have advanced to the rank of second lieutenant in the same year . In 1744 Arnim was promoted from the king to captain of the staff , and the following year he became company commander . In December 1757 he received the order Pour le Mérite . A grenadier battalion , composed of two companies each from the Jung-Tresckow and Hautcharmoy regiments , was handed over to him in 1758. With his battalion, Arnim played a major part in the storming of Fort No. 1 in Schweidnitz . In 1763 he was transferred to the Neuwied Regiment as the oldest major by the King . Here he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 2, 1764 and to colonel in August 1767. As regimental commander , 1773 received his farewell with a salary .

Arnim had participated in all three Silesian wars . He fought in the battles of Hohenfriederberg , Soor , Leuthen (wounded, PLM) and Landeshut (wounded and captured).

Arnim married Anna Dorothea Wernichen († 1793) in Minden in 1773. With this he had three natural sons legitimized on June 24, 1768.
