Juanito , real name Juan Gutiérrez Moreno (born July 23, 1976 in Cádiz , Spain ), is a former Spanish soccer player who u. a. played for Betis Sevilla and Atlético Madrid and is now the football coach. As a Spanish national player, he was European champion in 2008. Mostly Juanito was used as a central defender .

Career

society

Juanito began his professional career in 2000 at Recreativo Huelva for a year on loan, so that he was able to really get started at Betis Sevilla in 2001 and has been a regular there ever since. He was instrumental in winning the 2005 Spanish Cup and participating in the 2006/07 Champions League . After the Betis had to relegate to the Segunda División as eighteenth in the 2008/09 table , he joined Atlético Madrid for the next season on a free transfer .

In January 2011, his contract with Atlético was terminated by mutual agreement, so that he was able to join Real Valladolid a little later . He signed a contract until the end of the 2011/12 season, which was not subsequently renewed.

National team

Juanito made his debut on August 21, 2002 against Hungary for the Spanish national soccer team . He took part with Spain in the EURO 2004 , the 2006 World Cup , where he scored 1-0 against Saudi Arabia , and the EURO 2008 , where he won the title.

Trainer

After the end of his active career, Juanito initially worked as an assistant coach for Betis Sevilla : in the 2012/13 season for the U19 team and in the 2013/14 season for the B team. In the 2014/15 season he worked for Betis in the youth sector.

For the 2015/16 season he moved to CD San ​​Roque de Lepe as a coach , who was playing in Segunda División B , the third highest Spanish league. After a 4-0 defeat against Linares, the club was on the relegation ranks. Juanito was released from San Roque de Lepe in early March 2016.

On July 8, 2016, he received a contract as a coach from Atlético Sanluqueño CF. The team was promoted to the Segunda División B for the new season . After the team had only scored seven points in thirteen games, he was sacked as coach in early November 2016.

It wasn't until January 2019 that he received a new contract as a coach. This was the first time Juanito worked as a trainer abroad. He signed a contract for the remainder of the 2018/19 season with the Belgian club KSV Roeselare , which plays in the 2nd division . At the end of the regular season, the club was in 5th place in the overall table and therefore had to participate in the relegation round. There the 2nd place was reached, so that Roeselare remained in the 2nd division. When his contract expired, Moreno left the club. Since then he has been without a new commitment.
