Juan Muñoz (born August 30, 1990 in Jaca ) is a Spanish ice hockey player who has been under contract with CH Txuri Urdin in the Spanish Super League since 2017 .

Career

Juan Muñoz began his career as a hockey player in the youth team of the CH Jaca , for whose first team he played in the Spanish Super League from 2005 to 2007 , and with whom he won the Spanish Cup in 2006. The attacker then played a season for the youth of the Finnish first division club KalPa Kuopio before returning to his Spanish homeland in summer 2008, where he was signed by FC Barcelona . With Barcelona in 2009 he became Spanish champions for the first time in his career .

In the summer of 2011, Muñoz moved to Örnsköldsvik Hockey , for whose U20 juniors he played in Division 2 , the fourth Swedish division. In January 2012 he returned to the Spanish Super League and joined the CH Gasteiz , with whom he again won the Spanish national championship in 2013 and 2014 and the cup victory in 2014. Since 2014 he played for the league competitor CH Txuri Urdin . In the 2015/16 season he was top scorer and top scorer in the super league.

In September 2016, Muñoz was signed by the St. Clair Shores Fighting Saints in the Federal Hockey League . He returned to the CH Txuri Urdin for the Superliga playoffs and won the Spanish championship title with the club in 2017 and 2018.

International

For Spain, Muñoz took part in the junior division at the U18 Junior World Championships in Division III 2007 , the U18 Junior World Championships in Division II in 2006 and 2008 and the U20 Junior World Championships in Division II in 2007 , 2008 , when he was together with the Dutchman Mike Dalhuisen was the third best scorer behind the two Estonians Maksim Brandis and Anton Perov and, together with the Croatian Borna Rendulić, was the second best scorer behind Perov in 2009 and 2010 when he was the second best scorer after Hungary's Balázs Somogyi and was named the best player of his team . With the selection of Spanish students, he took part in the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum, Turkey, and the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada , Spain .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships of Division II in 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , when he was top scorer, top scorer and best striker of the tournament, in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 as well as the World Cup of the division I 2011 . He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang .
