The Iserlohn correctional facility is a juvenile prison in Iserlohn , in which young people and adolescents between 14 and 24 years of age serve a juvenile sentence. It is located in the north of the city in the Drüpplingsen district .

history

The correctional facility was built in 1970 and expanded in 1988 to include school and workshop buildings and a protective wall. It extends over an area of ​​114,628 m² (19,634 m² of which is built on) and has a sports field with a circular track, jumping pit and shot put circle.

Of the 292 detention places, 160 are used for closed execution , 88 a special form of closed execution and 19 for open execution , 25 are in the temporary building.

On June 24, 2014, the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia decided to completely rebuild the prison. From 2020 all buildings are to be demolished and new ones built. The prison should have 340 places and be ready by 2027.
