Muscat II cabinet
The Maltese Cabinet Muscat II was formed on April 2, 2014 by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat of the Partit Laburista (PL). It followed the first Muscat cabinet , and on June 9, 2017 it was replaced by the Muscat III cabinet .
The formation of the second cabinet was necessary due to the simultaneous departure of several ministers from the first Muscat cabinet. The former Minister for Family and Social Policy Marie Louise Coleiro Preca was born on April 2, 2014, to replace George Abela new President of the Republic of Malta , while Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella in the EU - Juncker Commission Commissioner for Environment , Fisheries and Maritime Affairs was. Furthermore, the previous Minister of Health Godfrey Farrugia and the Parliamentary Secretary for Active Aging and Disability Rights Franco Mercieca resigned for personal reasons.
