Kanina is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located eleven kilometers northeast of Mělník and belongs to the Okres Mělník .
geography
Kanina is located in the south of Dauba's Switzerland . The village lies on a plateau, to the north the dry rock valley Vrbodol joins. To the west lies the Kokořínský důl, through which the Pšovka flows. The railway runs east from Mělník to Mladá Boleslav. The Kanina train station is a good kilometer outside the village to the southeast.
Neighboring towns are Sedlec in the north, Mšeno in the northeast, Stránka in the east, Velký Újezd in the southeast, Nebužely in the south, Bosyně in the southwest, Kokořínek and Kokořín in the west and Hradsko in the northwest.
history
Kanina was first mentioned in a document in 1207 when Ottokar I. Přemysl donated the Řepín estate, including the villages of Libeň, Sedlice and Kanina, to the Teutonic Knights Order . In 1237 his son Wenceslaus I renewed the donation.
After the abolition of patrimonial Kanina formed a municipality in the Mělník district from 1850. Between 1980 and 1990 the village was incorporated into Mšeno .
