Kly (German Kell , older also Kelle ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located five kilometers north of Neratovice and belongs to the Okres Mělník .

geography

Kly is located on the right side of the Elbe above the mouth of the Vltava on the Tuhaňská strouha canal.

Neighboring towns are Turbo Vice and Skuhrov in the north, Vinice, Krauzovna, Vavřineč and Malý Újezd in the Northeast, Záboří the east, Tuhaňské Větrušice, Cervena Piska and Tuhaň the southeast, Kelské Větrušice in the south, Obříství and Dušníky in the southwest, Zálezlice the west and Upor and Vrbno in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Kly was in 1344.

In 1618 Kly became part of the Obříství manor . In 1620 Obříství and all its accessories were confiscated from Václav Pětiprstý's property and sold to Polyxena von Lobkowicz . During the Thirty Years' War Kly fell in a desolate way, the berní rula only shows one farmer for the place. In 1786 Kly consisted of 54 houses and had 292 residents.

Kly was opposite the island of Aupor, which was surrounded by two arms of the Vltava and the Elbe. The Elbe flood in 1845 , when the level rose to 7.26 meters above normal height, flooded the village. The place was devastated and the harvest destroyed. The following year, water was followed by fire. In the major fire of 1846, about a third of Kell's farms burned down. Due to its location on the river, Kly was also affected by the floods of 1862, 1872 and 1890. In 1890 702 people lived in 129 houses in the place. During the 20th century, Kly experienced a major expansion, especially along the state road, new housing developments emerged. This increased the number of houses to 379 in 200; at that time the village had 925 residents.

The settlements Dolní Vinice and Hoření Vinice formerly formed the district Kelské Vinice and have been designated as districts together with Lom and Krauzovna since March 28, 2001.
