Karin Freitag (born April 1, 1980 in Sankt Marein bei Graz ) is an Austrian long-distance runner and multiple national champion in marathons, half marathons and mountain marathons.

Career

Karin Freitag started running in 2010 and when she started her first marathon in May, she won the Wachau Marathon straight away .

State champion marathon 2012

In 2011 she won her first national title in the mountain marathon. National marathon titles followed in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018.

At the Vienna City Marathon 2016 she finished 13th as the best Austrian. At the Wings for Life World Run in May 2016, Karin Freitag achieved the world's second best distance.

She starts for the Styrian club "ATV Irdning". In October 2017, Karin Freitag was fourth in the overall standings and became Vice State Champion at the marathon on Lake Constance. In May 2018, the 38-year-old won her fifth national marathon title at the Salzburg Marathon.

Karin Freitag is a nurse and lives with her husband and two children in Hall in Tirol .
