Karl Franz von Keoszeghy

Karl Franz von Keoszeghy (also: Kedeszegy , born August 3, 1721 at Sümeg Castle in Hungary ; † March 30, 1794 in Wehlau ) was a Prussian major general and head of the 3rd Hussar Regiment .

Life

origin

The family is one of the oldest in the Kingdom of Hungary . His parents were the district judge of the Tolenau county Michael von Kedeszegy († 1744) and his wife Katharina, born von Zamory from the house of Schackoran.

Military career

Keoszeghy went into imperial service in 1740 and fought as a non-commissioned officer in the battle of Chotusitz in 1742 . After that he fought in the siege of Prague and against the French, where he could distinguish himself. After the First Silesian War , he and his older brother (who died as a major in Leipzig in 1760) took his leave and went into Prussian service . On April 16, 1743 Keoszeghy came as a Junker in the hussar regiment "von Hallasz" . His brother came into the regiment as a captain. On June 20, 1744 he was promoted to second lieutenant. In the Second Silesian War he fought in the battle near Habelschwerdt , the battle of Hohenfriedberg and the siege of Cosel. After the war, Keoszeghy received his resignation on December 13, 1750 . For this he received the on January 5, 1751 character as captain .

Keoszeghy was re-employed on February 21, 1753. He came first as a surplus in his old regiment and was promoted to prime lieutenant with a patent from January 5, 1751 . In the Seven Years' War Keoszeghy fought in the battle of Prague , stood in the siege and in the subsequent battle of Kolin . Then the king sent him with 100 men from the hussar regiment to the corps of Duke Ferdinand of Braunschweig to fight against the French. Here Keoszeghy fought successfully at Egeln and Halberstadt. Then he came back to the king's corps in Leipzig , which led him to the battle of Rossbach . He held up so well there that the king sent him to Regiment No. 1 (Seydlitz) on March 22, 1758 as staff master . On December 5, 1757 he fought near Leuthen . For this he received the order Pour le Mérite on December 6, 1758 . Keoszeghy formed the head of a commando in 1758 that advanced to Bohemia under the command of Colonel von Kleist. On June 18, 1759 he became captain and squadron chief . He captured some Croatians, but his horse fell and he was captured. In 1762 he was exchanged, became major on May 4, 1762 and fought in the Battle of Freiberg .

After the war Keoszeghy was on August 30, 1772 lieutenant colonel and commander of the hussar regiment "von Czettritz" . He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On December 15, 1779 he became a colonel and on September 18, 1786, chief of the hussar regiment "von Rosenbusch". To this end, he was appointed major general on June 30, 1786. In May 1788 he was released with a salary of 1200 thalers. On August 15, 1788 he received the Silesian Inkolat . He died on March 30, 1794 in Wehlau.

family

Keoszeghy married on December 1, 1750 the Countess Beatrix Wurmbrand von Russwurm († April 15, 1786) widowed von Pothoesky. The couple had four sons and two daughters, including:

  • Sigismund Franz Anton Georg (January 17, 1756 - June 30, 1821), Major a. D.

On November 25, 1787, he married Ernestine von Pannewitz , the widow of Major General Hans Christoph von Rosenbusch .
