Karl Kendzia

Karl Kendzia (born August 25, 1897 in Leipzig , † February 20, 1973 in Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

After taking acting lessons in Leipzig, Karl Kendzia worked on various stages, including in Zittau , Altenburg and Gotha . In 1938 he came to Halle (Saale) as an actor and director and was director there from 1945 to 1952. He then went to the Deutsches Theater in Berlin as an actor to move to the Volksbühne in 1957 . As a distinctive character player and comedian, he has also worked in film and television many times.

In Halle an der Saale, his work was honored with the naming of a street in the theater district on Karl-Kendzia-Weg . The street signs have the following additional explanation: “The actor and director Karl Kendzia (1897–1973) ran the Halle theater immediately after the end of the Second World War . Under him, the municipal theaters became the state theater in 1948. ”He also taught at the State University for Theater and Music in Halle .
