Kathleen Nolan (* 27. September 1933 in St. Louis , Missouri as Jocelyn Schrum ) is an American actress and singer who for her role as Kate McCoy in a total of 185 episodes of The Real McCoys became known.

Life

Kathleen Nolan was born as Jocelyn Schrum in St. Louis in 1933. Her parents were actors and had their own theater company, the Circle Stock Company . At the age of thirteen months, Nolan appeared on stage for the first time on board the showboat Goldenrod , where she worked as an actress for the next few years. After graduating from high school in St. Louis, she also appeared as a singer on radio stations.

In the mid-1950s, Nolan also appeared in larger theaters, including 1954 as Wendy in the world premiere of the musical Peter Pan on Broadway (which was filmed for television in 1955 under the same cast) and in 1967 as Amy in Love in E-Flat .

In addition to her work at the theater, Nolan also appeared in feature films, television films and several dozen television series. She played her best-known role from 1957 to 1962 as Kate McCoy in almost 200 episodes of The Real McCoys , before she left the cast in the last season a year before the series ended. For this role she was nominated for an Emmy in 1959 . Nolan's other television appearances included 17 episodes of the sitcom Jamie and three episodes of the crime series Alfred Hitchcock Presents . In 1981 and 1982 she appeared in two episodes of the US crime series Magnum . Her later television roles include appearances in Crossing Jordan - Pathologist with Profile and Cold Case - No Victim Is Ever Forgotten . 2017 Nolan was as Claudia in the film drama Dog Years alongside Burt Reynolds to see. She is still active as an actress today.

From 1975 to 1979, Nolan was the first female president of the Screen Actors Guild , replacing Dennis Weaver for two terms . She is also a lifelong member of The Actors Studio . In 1980 she received the Woman in Film Crystal Award for her services to the role of women in the entertainment industry .

Nolan was married to the manager Richard Heckenkamp from 1962 to 1965, with whom they had a son in 1963. The marriage ended in divorce.
