Kczewo (Kobylnica)

Kczewo (German name Egsow ) is a village in Poland right on the border between the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the rural community Kobylnica ( Kublitz ) in the Słupsk ( Stolp ) district.

Geographical location

The former manor village of Kczewo is 14 kilometers east of Sławno ( Schlawe ) and 18 kilometers west of Słupsk on a side road that joins Landesstraße 6 (former German Reichsstraße 2 , now also Europastraße 28 ) Gdansk - Stettin near Reblino ( Reblin ) with voivodship road 209 at Tychowo ( (Wendish) Tychow ) Sławno– Bytów ( Bütow ) connects. The nearest train station is in Słonowice ( Groß Schlönwitz ) on the state railway line 405 Piła ( Schneidemühl ) - Ustka ( Stolpmünde ).

The landscape of Kczewo is slightly hilly. Numerous fields, meadows, deciduous and pine forests make it varied.

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in a document in which Swantopolk II of Pomerania (1195–1266) assigned some villages to the Order of St. John , including the Egsow, then called Hiweze . In the Middle Ages, he is a von Kleist MOORISH fief , and 1628 Hans Natzmer to Egsow called. In 1734 the village passed to the von Blumenthal family . As a result of marriages, the estate came to the von Bülow family in 1847 .

1784 Egsow had one Vorwerk , 1 water mill, 6 farmers, 1 blacksmith, 1 schoolmaster and a newly created Vorwerk, the Schäferey . In 1818 120 inhabitants lived here, their number rose to 221 by 1925. After that, the place was integrated into the municipality of Besow (Bzowo).

In 1940 part of the manor burned down. It is rebuilt, but the manor house is demolished after 1945.

After the invasion of the Red Army in March 1945, the estate was occupied by a veterinary unit.

Before 1945 Egsow was part of the municipality Besow (Bzowo) and belonged to the administrative district Besow in the district of Schlawe i. Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . After 1945 the place became Polish and was named Kczewo. Today it is a place in Gmina Kobylnica in the Powiat Słupski of the Pomeranian Voivodeship (until 1998 Stolp Voivodeship ).

Before 1945 the population of Egsow was predominantly of Protestant denomination. The place was parish in the parish Groß Schlönwitz (Słonowice), which belonged to the church district Schlawe in the church province of Pomerania of the church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Otto Range .

Today the population of Kczewo is almost without exception Roman Catholic . The place is integrated into the parish Słonowice, which belongs to the deanery Sławno in the diocese of Köslin-Kolberg of the Catholic Church in Poland . Protestant church members living in Kczewo are now assigned to the parish office in Słupsk ( Stolp ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Before 1945 the children of Egsow attended the elementary school in Besow (Bzowo).
